Today is “ROBERT” Day! #endnf

We have a fighter amongst us and his name is Robert Owenby, the son of Carolanne and Wesley Owenby. As most of you know Robert has a condition called NF. NF (Neurofibromatosis) causes tumors to grow on his nerves throughout his body. Robert has a neurofibroma tumor in his right eye and optic nerve & sinus cavity. The tumor has caused bone loss know as sphenoid wing dysphasia. Robert no longer has bone behind his orbit on the right side which separates the brain from the inoperable tumor.
The Owenby family will make a very important trip up to the Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia for one of the scariest surgeries thus far.  On September 11th Robert will undergo an 8 hour surgery (plus 5 days in the ICU) to rebuild the right side with titanium mess and a piece of bone from his skull.
On September 11th we are asking the CrossFit NE Georgia family to wear BLUE or wear their R4R shirt in honor of Robert for “Robert Day.” The WOD on September 11th will be in his honor.
